Jose Lopes of Somerville passed on December 4, 2025, surrounded by family and close friends, at the age of 95.
He was an avid soccer lover, and loyal supporter of his home team Benfica for 70 years, and was an amateur Fado (Tenor) singer, who used to perform on Saturdays at the Sunset Restaurant in Cambridge.
Loving husband of the late Dina Lopes, father to his late son Joe Lopes, brother-in law of the late Victor Corrêa, and brother to the late John Da Luz.
Survived by his sister Rita Corrêa; his children Anna Paula Carvalho, Jack Lopes, Sandra Frasier and her husband David, stepson Victor and wife Ines Furtado; loving nieces and nephews Ana and CJ Graham, Carla Correa-Berg, Katia and Mark Chaves, Roberta and Tom Burcham, and Linda and Mario Donatelli; 7 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 9:00 to 10:30 am at Roger’s Funeral Home, 380 Cambridge Street in Cambridge.
A Funeral Mass will follow at St. Anthony’s Church, 400 Cardinal Medeiros Avenue, in Cambridge at 11:00 am.
Internment will be at the Cambridge Cemetery.
