Barcelos, Maria De Lourdes (Silveira) of Somerville, April 23, 2023, at age 86.
Born in Praia Da Victoria, Terceira, Acores on May 2, 1936, the daughter of the late Manuel Silveira and Maria dos Anjos Peixinho.
She was the devoted wife of Felix S. Barcelos for 69 years.
Loving mother of Dora M. Martins and her husband George Martins, Leticia “Tish” Pombeiro-Barcelos and her late husband Carlos Pombeiro, Ida Rego and her husband Fernando Rego and Maria Margarida Barcelos.
Cherished grandmother of Diane Gabaree and her husband John, Jason Martins and his wife Nicole, Amanda Lahue and her husband Joseph, Jessica Lima, Stephanie Rego and her fiancée Matthew McDonagh.
Adored great-grandmother of Krista and Kyle Gabaree, Ethan, Noah and Emma Martins, Alexa, Sofia and Joseph Jr. “JoJo” Lahue, and Savannah Lima.
Maria was Pre-deceased by her brother Paulino Silveira and sister Manuela Santos.
She will also be missed by her beloved nieces, nephews, many other loving family members and friends, but especially by her goddaughters, Maria Lourdes Santos and Guida Silveira.
Maria De Lourdes immigrated to the United States in January 1969 with her husband, 4 daughters and her mother. She worked as a seamstress for Hyde Shoe Company in Cambridge for several years, before becoming disabled.
She was a great seamstress who made her own clothes and loved making clothes for her grandchildren. She found happiness in the simple things in life, like watering her garden, caring for her house plants and raising her canaries. She and her husband would light up the dance floor at every family gathering.

Visiting hours at the funeral home in Cambridge on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.
Internment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
