Athanas, Marilyn J. (Pasquariello) of Somerville, May 20, 2020 at age 81.  Beloved daughter of the late Davis & Rose (Parilla) Pasquariello. Devoted wife of the late Paul L. Athanas.  Loving mother of Sandra Athanas-Moccia and her husband Robert, Doreen Athanas-Kehoe, and her husband James.  Cherished grandmother of Christina Moccia and her significant other Joseph Zarthar, Nicholas Moccia, Dr. Paul Kehoe and his fiancé Adrianna Clemente, Steven Kehoe, Matthew Kehoe, and Lisa Kehoe.  Adored great-grandmother of Tucker Anthony Zarthar.  Beloved sister of Arlene D’Angelo and her husband Giovanni, Linda Rand and her husband Kenneth and the late Davis Pasquariello and his surviving wife Kathy and John Pasquariello and his late wife Gloria.  Dear longtime companion of James Legee of Somerville.  Also survived by nieces, nephews and many other loving relatives and friends.  Marilyn cherished family times – Sunday dinners, visits to Cape Cod, her fond memories of Limerick, Maine.  She also loved gardening and taking walks through Harvard Yard. Her biggest love was the “Bear Hugs” she received from her grandchildren.  She will be greatly missed by the family pet Ella, who would run victory laps around the house every time she saw Marilyn.  She was a devout Catholic who was concerned more with the wishes and needs of others, than with her own.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation in her memory to the Boston Children's Hospital, 300 Longwood Avenue, Boston, MA 02115 or to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Even though at this point and time it is nearly impossible to gather and mourn the loss of a loved one, it is still possible for families and friends to be supportive and compassionate. May we suggest you reach out by telephone, email, or perhaps mailing them a card or leaving your words of sympathy on the funeral home website?
